Easy to use, happy with it

I finally got around to trying QuickBooks Self-Employed for my freelance stuff. It was super easy to connect my bank accounts and track expenses. I also used the mileage tracker a bunch. Everything just worked, which is always nice. My finances feel way more organized now, which makes me happy.

Good deal, saved a lot

I signed up for QuickBooks Online for my new business. I got 50% off for the first three months, which was a huge help for my budget. It felt like a solid value for what I paid. Setting it up was pretty straightforward, too.

Mostly good, some small issues

I switched from QuickBooks Desktop to Online last month for my small business. The migration offer was decent, and getting everything set up online was pretty smooth for the most part. I really like the mobile app for invoicing on the go, that's a big plus. The customer support was helpful when I called about an integration issue, but I had to wait on hold for a bit, maybe 15 minutes. It's a solid platform, but I wish the reporting customization was a little more intuitive right out of the gate.

So, how easy is it to cancel QuickBooks if I don't like it? Don't want to get stuck in a long contract.

T Todd 1 month ago
Pretty straightforward. You can usually do it right from your account settings online.

Yeah, I canceled my trial once. No issues, just a few clicks in the settings. Didn't have to call anyone.

How's QuickBooks compare to Xero? I've been using Xero but thinking of switching.

N Noor Ito 1 month ago
QuickBooks has more features for bigger businesses sometimes, but Xero is often seen as more user-friendly for really small stuff. Depends what you need.

QB has better reporting and integrations, especially if you're planning to grow. Xero is good, but I found QB more robust long-term.

If I decide to pay for a whole year upfront, do you get a discount or something? Or is it the same monthly price?

B Brett 4 weeks ago
Yup, usually. Most subscription services like this give you a break for annual billing. QuickBooks too, afaik.

N Nina Carter 3 weeks ago
Definitely. There's almost always a discount for paying annually. Saves a bit of money in the long run.

Hey, thinking about getting QuickBooks Online. Do they ever do like, free trials or something so I can test it out first?

R Rachel 1 month ago
Yeah, pretty sure they always have a 30-day free trial. I just signed up for it last month.

They usually do. Check their site, it should pop up for new users. Don't think you even need a code for it.

Thinking of getting QuickBooks Online but also need payroll. Is it all included, or do I have to pay extra for payroll stuff?

O Omar 1 month ago
Payroll is an add-on. You usually get a base QBO subscription and then add payroll on top. There are different tiers for payroll too.

T Todd Okafor 1 month ago
It's separate. You pick your QBO plan, and then you can add a payroll subscription. They usually bundle it sometimes with a discount though.

Quick question, I'm a student trying to start a side hustle. Do they offer any discounts for students or non-profits?

T Troy 1 month ago
I think they do have a student discount. Might be worth checking their education page or support.

Yep, I heard about non-profit pricing too. I'd definitely look into it, could save you a decent chunk.
